Here are some pictures I captured on a last swing of the Outdoor Retailer show on the final hours…some very cool booths and sights this year and great branding efforts by all the outdoor retailers.
Here’s video of them announcing Wilderness Systems as the Manufacturer of the Year for boats at the Canoe & Kayak awards party in Salt Lake City Thursday night. Sue Rechner also makes a brief speech while receiving the award.
With the busy booth schedule and hurrying to the Canoe & Kayak event, I wasn’t able to post some of the pictures from OR Day 3. Below are some things I captured as we wrapped up the next to last day at Outdoor Retailer. Day 4 pics to come shortly.
- Christie Glissmeyer gets interviewed at C&K Awards for her record breaking descent.
- Team Dagger Member Andy Maser shows off his latest projects
- Team Dagger member Andy Maser
- Product Manager Scott had too much fun at OR and found a nice seat at the C&K party
- Team Dagger member Corey Volt at C&K
- The C&K Party got packed pretty quickly. The beer and food lines were pretty extensive.
- Product Manager Scott lends a hand at the end of the day.
- Product Manager Tim is being instructed by me not to vacuum my liveblog up.

Yesterday, amidst all the shuffle of the show, Confluence picked up another award from the Outdoor Retailer show, for Innovative Branding and Programs.
The committee said a few things in particular were factors in choosing us, which were the Wave Sport Design Graphics competition, the Paddle-It-Forward program, and the general relaunch and brand strategy of all of our companies.
We’re very happy to receive this award in particular, since it’s always a risk introducing new technology or programs into an industry, it’s a relief to have them well received. We appreciate all of our retailer support for these programs as well. Without that they wouldn’t have gotten off the ground.
After the awards ceremony, the remainder of the party featured a projection show guided by various kayakers doing amazing things throughout the world.
All those featured happened to be on Team Dagger..including Tyler Bradt and Rush Sturges for record breaking waterfalls, Andy Maser for the Congo and China river awareness projects, and Chrissie Glissmeyer (pardon the spelling) for her amazing womens descent record this year.
We’re proud to have such talented and socially responsible team members and glad to see their projects getting even more exposure.
